the cotswolds

Designing the Cotswold map was where this all started. I live in the Cotswolds and admire it greatly and wanted to purchase a great looking map of the place, but quite frankly what was available, was not good, so I designed my own.

The Cotswolds spans across several counties and is the largest national landscape in Britain. The different coloured areas are the portions of the different counties that complete the Cotswolds: (Gloucestershire, Worcestershire, Warwickshire, Somerset, Oxfordshire and Wiltshire).

main maps available in 2 sizes

new 2nd Edition Cotswolds map

I started with the Cotswold map ahead of Christmas in 2019 with the Autumnal edition released a year later. 250 copies of each have since been sold so it was time to improve the original artwork and publish a second edition.

Many changes and improvements have been made while the original artwork is honoured and preserved.

Most of the changes are cosmetic, tweaks and changes in colour, shading and detail, but some are more fundamental so collectively the artwork is greatly enhanced.

Changes made:

Light off-white background applied

A grid and reference system to improve locating sites of interest

Adjustment to sites in Bath making symbols less congested

Two sites of interest added

Map expanded south of Tewkesbury so River Severn forms the border

Map expanded slightly east into Oxfordshire

Enhanced design to the border, title, scale, compass

World Heritage Sites added at Bath and Blenheim

Military areas and labels

Hilltop triangle symbols

Thinner and lighter motorway with junction labels

Railways from black to dark brown

Railway stations from black and white to dark brown and ivory

100's of minor streams and brooks added
